Oak is recommended for many uses within the home-cabinetry, countertops, floors, molding, furniture, and more. Oak is versatile; can be easily stained or painted to suit a design; and refinishes easily to adapt to changes in design.
Red Oak is hard and heavy with medium
bending strength and stiffness and high
crushing strength, making for great wear-resistance, enduring quality, timeless restoration, refinishing, or reclamation in addition to unmatched distinction and utility in countless products-hardwood flooring, furniture, and more-as it has done for thousands of years.
Its historic resistance to disease has made it
the most lasting and durable of the hardwoods.
White Oak is hard and heavy with medium bending and crushing strength, low in stiffness, but very good in steam bending. White Oak machines, nails, and screws well, but it reacts with iron; therefore, galvanized nails are recommended. It is also impervious to liquids and has great wear-resistance. White Oak can be stained with a wide-range of finish tones for use in cabinetry, interior finishing, and general construction.
