sustainability of oak

We all try to do our part to protect the environment – conserving water, using rechargeable items, recycling – many of us do little things like these throughout our daily lives. Wouldn’t it be nice if by purchasing a certain piece of furniture, you could do your part to help save the planet? Believe it or not, there is a way to enjoy beautiful, trendy furniture in your own home or office that helps keep the planet green at the same time. This unique combination is possible because furniture made of sustainable wood reduces waste and limits deforestation, thus does not lead to deforestation.

Not only is Oak a certified sustainable wood, but it is uniquely American. That’s because 42% of the growing stock in US forests are Oak, 26% red oak and 16% white oak.

The New Oak Partnership has been created to showcase the versatility of American Red Oak and American White Oak—premier natural products. Designers, architects, homeowners, and all others who appreciate finely crafted interiors and furnishings are encouraged to tour the New Oak site, submit photographs of their finest oak creations and projects and learn more about Oak’s environmental sustainability.
